45 Life Lessons to Celebrate 45 Years

Digital photos weren’t a thing when I was growing up (for better or worse), but here’s a little gem from my childhood.


As I was brainstorming this week’s topic, I thought it’d be fun to share some lessons I’ve picked up as I step into this next chapter of life.


  1. Never skimp on toilet paper (#bluebearforlife). – Roberta Kaminsky

  2. The best free things in life? Nature, laughter, kindness, love, and self-compassion.

  3. Only finish books worth reading.

  4. Savor great cocktails.

  5. Enjoy that first sip of coffee feeling

  6. Set and respect your bedtime—it’s a step toward success.

  7. Move your body daily.

  8. Do what you love if you can.

  9. Eat your fruits and veggies.

  10. Learn your love languages.

  11. Tell your partner what your love languages are.

  12. End the day with “I love you.”

  13. You can never say “I love you” too much.

  14. Age is just a number.

  15. Family comes first.

  16. Stay connected with lifelong friends (they’re vintage, not old).

  17. Other people’s opinions of you aren’t your business.

  18. Failure is just a First Attempt In Learning.

  19. Talk to yourself like you would a best friend.

  20. There’s power in the pause.

  21. Prioritize your mental health.

  22. Keep learning, evolving, and expanding your mind.

  23. Believe in yourself before anyone else does.

  24. Honey works better than vinegar.

  25. Choose happiness. It does need to be a conscious choice.

  26. You don’t live once—you live every day and die once.

  27. Make time for loved ones and surround yourself with people who make life worth living.

  28. Be kind.

  29. Time is non-renewable. Use it wisely.

  30. Start prioritizing your health early.

  31. Wear sunscreen.

  32. The best way to recover from a fall? Laugh.

  33. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.

  34. Nothing lasts forever.

  35. Get the puppy!

  36. Time heals most wounds.

  37. Grief is love with nowhere to go.

  38. Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.

  39. When life moves too fast, slow down.

  40. Put yourself first.

  41. Meditate often.

  42. Don’t forget to stretch.

  43. What you do today shapes who you’ll be tomorrow.

  44. Gratitude brings more beauty and happiness.

  45. Celebrate the small joys.


    And just like the extra candle on the cake 'one to grow on!'

Commitment starts you, consistency moves you, and persistence keeps you going.
